Beautiful Vase by Indiana Glass Horsemint EAPG 1910 Pattern #156. This vase is about 6 1/4" tall X 3 3/4".
"Sun Purple" or "Sun Kissed" is a very interesting phenomenon. This is caused by manganese that was added instead of the lead to the glass since 1860s to improve glass quality. In time, it was noticed that this glass made without lead but containing manganese was found to turn light lavender over time when exposed to (ultraviolet) rays of the sun. In 1915 most companies ceased using manganese and substituted selenium as the clearing agent.
This is from an estate of which I will be posting several items of vintage glass in the next few days. Very nice vintage condition. Please message if you have questions and thanks for looking!
