Motoring hoods were designed to fit closely to the head and sometimes featured windows made from materials like mica for visibility.Eye shields, or goggles, were also used for eye protection, especially by women driving at higher speeds. Some eye shields were incorporated directly into the bonnet design. This bonnet was packed away in the attic of an estate of a 100 year old woman in Northern Illinois. It is a linen type fabric and as shown a spot where the fabric has some holes and the shield frame fabric is starting to fray. This has been an interesting display in my shop over the years and is in quite remarkable condition for it's age. Please message if you have questions and thanks for looking!
